Swapnali Thakar is a visual artist and a graphic designer with a background in performing arts and media. Swapnali is interested in varied subject matter and uses watercolours for a lot of her work. She likes the speed of working in watercolours and enjoys the versatility of the medium.

She holds memberships to art groups and institutions. Swapnali has also facilitated workshops and talks, internationally. She has exhibited in a number of juried and group shows in India and Canada.

Her work is part of private collections in Canada, USA and India.

The series presented here is called “More about Pots” and is inspired by terracotta potters in India.

These pots of seductive shapes tell a story with overlapping contours, curves, opaque and transparent colours. The composition creates dialogue within the image that stimulates the imagination. While being playful these paintings are also informed by our ability to “see” ourselves even in the inanimate.
