TORONTO ART EXPO Opening Night Preview, Thursday April 11, 2013
The BIG ONE. Canada’s largest art party at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Welcome to Toronto:

  • Canada’s largest City and the financial centre of the country, North America’s fourth largest urban economy after New York, Los Angeles and now near par to Chicago, with over 6 million people within an hour’s drive of Toronto Art Expo’s venue. Only an hour’s flight for 120 million North Americans and a convenient day’s drive or train from Chicago, New York, Detroit, Montreal, Philadelphia and Boston.
  • Toronto is a ‘growth’ city with a modern infrastructure and world class services: hotels (12,000 rooms within 10 minute walk of the Convention Centre), the most multinational cuisine imaginable, theatre, (it is the third foremost city for theatre in the English language), movie production, (it is the #2 centre in North America). Toronto is the most culturally diversified city on the international scale, with its City Hall translating information brochures into 138 languages. It has the largest Chinese originated population outside China, and likewise one of the largest South Asian communities. In the last 40 years it has grown into a prosperous and dynamic metropolis boasting the third wealthiest neighbourhood (household income) in the world! (Forest Hills). There is wealth here and Canada has been spared the ravages of the recent real estate led financial recession, with tighter banking regulations and lack of a runaway asset bubble. As an example of this contrast, in August of this year, US auto sales slumped to lowest levels in 27 years while they surged to record highs in Canada. Canada has led the G8 with GNP growth for the last year and has the lowest Gross Debt to GDP ratio in the G8, all of which has translated into a much more stable jobs/employment profile, with accelerating growth and greater consumer confidence.
  • Toronto is an International Air Travel Hub with hundreds of direct flights from American, European and Asian cities. It offers some of the least expensive top end hotels in the western world and as mentioned, a diverse array of restaurants at very reasonable tariffs.
  • In the native Ojibwa language Toronto means “meeting place”. The world will join us in April.
